Individual Counseling

Jane, a  successful business woman, came to see me because she was unhappy with her life and did not know why.  She had a good job, was in love with a wonderful man, and had friends.  Yet she often felt lonely in a crowd, struggled with depression, and experienced moments of hopelessness.

Carlos, a “self-made man” and first responder, came to see me because he was in a crisis over what he perceived as his failed life.  His wife divorced him and took the children with her after learning of a series of failed investments, and after years of accommodating his excessive drinking.  He was struggling with shame, loneliness, and hopelessness.

Ahmed, a teenager, came to see me  because he was struggling with depression and self-harm behaviors. He felt invisible in his family with highly successful older siblings and career-oriented parents.

A person comes to counseling when he or she is struggling to cope with life stresses. I meet each client as a unique individual, working with her/him to find healing, develop healthy skills, and resolve the issues that are getting in the way of happiness and well-being.  If faith or spirituality is important to the client, we can tap into it as part of the healing process.

Issues to bring to counseling: difficult marriage/relationships, depression, anxiety, trauma (as an adult or from childhood/adolescence - for example sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse), sexual intimacy, personal growth, emotional self-management, low self-esteem, addiction (alcohol, drugs, porn, shopping) and/or being in relationship with an addict, faith/spirituality crisis.
